"These headsets performed quite well during our battery of tests over the weeks that we tested them. Both the Maximo iMetal iP-HS1 & iP-HS2 headsets reproduced sound clearly and loudly. When using the iPod player, the iP-HS2 seemed to reproduce lower frequency better than the HS1's. Both headsets were able to stay in our ears for long periods of time listening to music before our ears showed signs of fatigue. Of course, the key for comfort when using the iP-HS2 Isolation Headset is choosing the right eartip size..." |
Huntkey Green Star 450 W Power Supply Review @ HardwareSecrets |

"Huntkey is a brand that isn't known by the North-American audience but it is somewhat popular in other countries, due to the low cost of its products. Huntkey manufactures some power supplies for other brands sold in the US, in particular BestBuy-owned Dynex and Rocketfish. We completely dissected their Green Star 450 W (LW-6450SG) model and tested to see if it can really deliver its labeled power. Read on." |

The latter of the aforementioned boards was one of first to hit the market at the launch of the P35 chipset. The GA-P35, in which ever format you got it, overclocked like a monster with a tweak here and a tweak there. But now that the world is on the energy saving kick Gigabyte has released an updated version of the P35 range called the GA-EP35 range. According to Gigabyte this new line of boards has a power saving rate of 70% which should make your parents, partner or roomy happy when it comes time to fork over the money to pay the utility bill. The Dynamic Energy Save or DES for short will automatically adjust CPU phase power during idle and load activity. Which means when at idle the power will drop down to dual phase and when a load is poured on up to four or higher dependent on the load. |

AMD's new HD 3650 is basically an improved version of the 2600 XT without any major technological advances other than a smaller die size resulting in cheaper cards. PowerColor's HD 3650 Extreme comes equipped with 512 MB of fast GDDR3 memory and runs at higher clocks than the AMD reference design. |

"In terms of aesthetics, the Lycosa is certainly an attention-grabber. The top surface has a sleek, glossy finish, almost like a piano. The buttons are finished with a non-slip, rubber finish that contrasts the glossy surface really well. The wrist rest appears to be regular black plastic, with the Razer logo in the center. I really like how the keys aren't fully visible when the back light is off, producing a nice stealth effect." |

"Up on the block today is the GFXChilla VGA Cooler from Coolink and I've tested it with my ATI X1800GTO video card and with my two Nvidia 8600GTS video cards as well. I've got comparison results with the GFXChilla going up against names like Thermalright, Arctic Cooling, Aerocool and of course the stock coolers. One thing cool (pun intended) about the GFXChilla is that it is small and able to be used with my Nvidia cards in SLI. From my testing I've found that the GFXChiila is virtually silent and performs extremely well, especially if you consider just how small it is." |

Patriot Viper PC2-6400XLK 2GB Memory Kit Review @ Virtual-Hideout |

“So, what can you do to improve the current DDR2 4-4-4-12 memory kits? How about, improve the kits with better ICs and improve the memory timings by lowering them to 3-4-3-8. Of course, this has only been achieved at the factory with 800MHz DDR2 ICs. Patriot has been the first to bring you 4-4-4-12 2x2GB memory kits, now they are the first to give us some 3-4-3-8 kits. This is good news for straight shooter computer users. Check out the new Patriot 2GB PC2-6400XLK Viper Memory Kit.” |

"To overclock this card, I used the Catalyst Control Center. I was able to push this card from the stock core clock of 670MHz to 715MHz. The memory was overclocked from the stock 830MHz to 945MHz. Not a bad overclock at all if you ask me. This was especially surprising considering that this card has no fan on it. Also, the card was idling at 21C while overclocked! That's just amazing!" |

Generally I don't pay much attention to enclosures. It doesn't have to be a particular brand, model or color -- though I prefer black. My thoughts regaring PC cases had changed over the years. The case does not need to be fancy, flashy or unique anymore. What I do care about is the functionality, overall simplistic look and price. A lot more manufacturers release such cases nowadays. The boom for extraordinary designs had gone with the wind. I do however like a tiny bit of finesse that goes along with the case. |

AMD 780G Chipset / AMD Athlon X2 4850e Platform Review @ Motherboards.org |

The 4850e X2 CPU does what it is designed to do, namely bring the performance and features of the 4800 X2 into the 45W maximum power draw domain. From a performance point of view this new CPU is in line with the 4800+ X2 with similar performance across the board. Computers are going green in every sense of the word, with motherboard manufacturers designing motherboards with lower power becoming more important in saving the environment and energy. With a projected MSRP of $89, the 4850e CPU is excellent to facilitate this. |

Today we have the distinct pleasure of introducing the XFX's rendition of NVIDIA's 9600GT 512MB graphics solution. The model of the card we received for testing from XFX, the PV-T94P-YDF4, has the same specifications as NVIDIA's reference standard card. We have been assured by XFX that two other factory overclocked models will be available in the very near future. It has been our experience in testing a base model card such as this that often we're able to achieve an excellent overclock, in many cases even superior to the factory overclocked models. |

The Logitech G15 ticks many boxes on the gaming keyboard requirements list, along with a few that are not even on it. "With the flurry of Geforce 9600GT's hitting the streets, there really are a lot of different videocards to consider. If you've been pondering an upgrade, don't fret. Foxconn has pre-overclocked this Geforce 9600GT from the stock clock speeds. The nVidia GPU runs an extra 50MHz quicker, the memory is up 100MHz, and the shader clock runs 125MHz faster. There's a lot to like about a mainstream videocard like the Geforce 9600GT, and it'll be interesting to see how much further we can overclock this particular Foxconn card." |

" Flash drives are really ubiquitous. If you look around your computer desk, you will probably find a few USB mass storage devices near your work area. They are a boon for taking documents from one computer to the next and are fast and simple to use. They replaced the floppy that the ZIP disk could not supplant. The one area that USB flash drives are lacking is the ability to boot. Even though many computer motherboards support USB booting, it is difficult to get the right combination. Using this guide, you will be able to make a bootable USB "hard drive." " |

33-Way Thermal Interface Material Comparison @ Benchmark Reviews |
Posted by Nathan @ 5:15 PM (EST) |
Benchmark Reviews has seen a lot of products made for the purpose of delivering better performance. Some of these products exist for overclockers and enthusiasts, and often times help deliver performance out of otherwise tame hardware. Other products sometimes only deliver the empty marketing claim of improvements. Of all the products we have seen and tested, one particular category always stands out as the culprit for over-hyped promises: Thermal Interface Material (TIM). Of all the heatsink compounds and thermal pastes made and marketed, they must all only concentrate themselves to deliver the simple function of mating the CPU to the cooler with the highest thermal conductivity possible. Of course, some work better than others, and this is exactly what Benchmark Reviews intends to discover. Please join us for a comprehensive testing of 33 different TIM products. |

"I used ATI's Overdrive included in the Catalyst Control Center to overclock this card. I was extremely surprised at how much I was able to squeeze out of this little card. I was able to get the core clock from 800MHz to 890MHz and the memory clock from 950MHz to 1040MHz. The fan didn't make any more noise than it already was at stock so I was happy about that. This card couldn't have been easier to overclock and to be able to get that that much out of the card was impressive to say the least." |

OCZ wants to discourage this kind of a mentality and it shows from their diverse lineup of USB flash drives, from durable to speedy to high capacity. Today we’re going to have a look at the OCZ Rally2 Turbo 8GB USB flash drive, which promises to provide impressive speeds (up to 35MB/s read) while maintaining high capacity (available in 4GB and 8GB modules)." |

"Palit have taken a slightly different approach with this GeForce 8800GT-class videocard. Rather than pre-overclock the GPU and memory, it's added an extra 512MB of onboard videocard memory, bumping the total to 1GB GDDR3. The Palit 8800GT Super+ 1GB ships with its GPU running at 600 MHz and memory clocked at 900 MHz. The shader runs at the stock 1500MHz speed. For the gamers looking for a little DirectX10 action in Windows Vista, the Palit 8800GT Super+ 1GB supports SM4.0, 16x antialiasing, 128-bit HDR, nVidia quantum effects physics processing, PureVideo HD, OpenGL 2 and all the other eye candy you'd expect." |

The cooling performance of the Noctua NH-U12P Heatpipe CPU Cooler is exceptional. With the fan at full speed it produces minimal noise and provides excellent thermal results, and cutting the fan speed down to near silence doesn't impact the cooling at all. Even though the performance was exceptional, achieving it took more effort than I am used to needing in order to install a CPU cooler. |

"Overclocking this chip has been a pure pleasure. When paired with the X38 chipset, the potential could be far out there with the correct cooling setup. I started at 400 x 9 and 1.35v and the system booted so flawlessly that I knew that it was thirsty for more. So I jumped the multiplier to 9.5 and kept raising the FSB by 15MHz while keeping the voltage the same until it would not boot. Then I upped the voltage and started again. In the end I was able to push the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 chip to 4.322GHz before the temps got high enough to make me not want to take the chance. I ended up with the E8500 at 455FSB x 9.5 multiplier for the speed I obtained with a voltage increase to 1.45v. At 4.322GHz I was able to complete SuperPI, Orthos Prime and all of the benchmarks with no problems at all." |
