MSI N250GTS-2D1G OC GeForce GTS 250 Video Card Review @ Motherboards.org

Posted by Nathan @ 8:58 PM (EDT)

MSI has taken the GeForce GTS 250 card and clocked it higher than the reference design, which NVIDIA clocks their standard cards at. While performance is not much improved, a lot of it can be attributed to the fact that the higher clock is only a fraction higher than the reference card. The card Overclocks extremely well with almost 100MHz overclock attained using the cooler. The benefits of this card compared to the reference card are virtually silent operation (as the fan is very silent), low temperatures under operation and higher clock speeds. The card is available online for $154.99 and comes with COD WAW when purchased from a participating etailer who is currently running that promotion. This card does however have 1GB of memory and that does help in many games over its 512MB brethren making it a Hot Product for this price range.

CPU3D Review: OCZ Blade Triple Channel DDR3-1600 6Gb Kit

Posted by Nathan @ 8:54 PM (EDT)

In this review, we'll be taking a look at the OCZ Blade Triple Channel DDR3-1600 6Gb Kit. Rated at DDR3-1600 or PC3-12800, these modules can run upto 800Mhz. They also feature a super low latency of 6-6-6-24, which as far as I'm aware, is one of the lowest we've come across for a triple channel kit. And as mentioned above, these modules are equipped with OCZ's new proprietary designed Aluminum heatspreader ... they do look good and should provide excellent heat dissipation.

Thermaltake SpinQ @ Bjorn3D

CPU coolers - nobody really likes to think about them much. They just sit on top the CPU and keep it from frying. Most end users are happy with the cooler that came with the CPU and have little realization that the Stock CPU cooler really won't do the job of keeping the CPU cool and certainly won't allow for any real overclocking. Look at the facts though. The overclocking community is just a small percentage of end users. Most end users will look at you and say, 'Overclocking. I've heard of that.' Sad but true. Most people don't overclock and in most cases review sites tend to cater to that community.

ASUS ROG Rampage II Gene mATX X58 Motherboard @ Tweaktown

Sony CyberShot DSC-T900 Review @ Digital Trends

"So you want to be a super model? Eat only lettuce, workout daily, and visit the plastic surgeon regularly. If your goal is to be a super model digicam, slim yourself down to practically nothing, add some bling, a dash of cool technology, and you're there. The super-slim Sony T series has always been the Heidi Klum of cameras, with knockout style and a shape that can't be beat. Yet the T series has always been more than a pretty package, delivering quality images along with its signature style. The new DSC-T900 is the latest member of the roster. Resolution was kicked up to 12MP from 10.1, it's been slimmed down almost 25 percent compared to last year, and topped off with an improved LCD screen and HD video. Is this model a runway success or a stumble? Let's check it out."

XFX GeForce GTS250 Video Card Review @ Motherboards.org

Posted by Nathan @ 4:11 PM (EDT)

The XFX GeForce GTS 250 Core Edition video card is available online for $129.99 off Newegg. For a limited time, you can purchase the card and get Call of Duty World at War as a bonus. The inclusion of a free game makes the purchase price more affordable. At the moment the competition for the GTS 250 is the Radeon HD 4850, making it a decent choice of whether you want PhysX support or DirectX 10.1 support. A lot has been said about rebranding of the GeForce 9800GTX+ to the GTS 250, but you get good performance for a good price and that is the bottom line when considering a new video card. The latest games play well on the card with only small sacrifices in terms of anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to achieve playable frame rates throughout.

Canon Vixia HF S10 Review @ Digital Trends

"The Holy Grail for camcorder owners is one device that takes great high-def video and outstanding stills, all in a compact package. Like Indiana Jones, the Knights Templar and Don Quixote, we've been on this seemingly fruitless quest for years. A few come close, but none ever took the ultimate prize. At this year's CES, our hopes were raised once again when Canon announced the Vixia HF S10, a flash memory-based camcorder that records AVCHD video at 24 Mb/s (the best compression rate available) to 32GB of built-in memory, or Class 4 SDHC cards. It even has an 8.59MP CMOS sensor, so it takes - you guessed it - 8MP photos at native, not interpolated, resolution. When Canon offered the Vixia HF S10 to test, we hoped for an early Christmas present. Let's see if it's a keeper - and if our search has ended."

Zotac Liquid-Cooled GeForce GTX 285 Infinity Edition @HotHardware.com

Posted by Nathan @ 5:02 AM (EDT)

Water-cooling has seen greater mainstream acceptance in recent years. As a result, manufacturers have acknowledged the trend and expanded their product lineups to include these more exotic parts. But what's the big draw for videocards, motherboards, or memory pre-installed with liquid cooling options? Simply put, increased cooling potential nets higher overclocking headroom which translates into higher, stable operating frequencies and ultimately, more performance. But in this particular case, performance is anchored by lower component temperatures and a quieter computing environment. Will consumers pay for the premium that these parts inherently demand? Zotac thinks so. In addition to their extensive roster of NVIDIA based graphics cards, they've introduced what will be the fastest single-GPU based GeForce when it hits the market. Zotac's GTX 285 Infinity Edition pushes the envelope by replacing the stock heatsink with a solid copper water block and raising clocks speeds extensively.

But with the Eeee Top ET1602, Asus made only one that's left us scratching our heads: Why'd the manufacturer leave out the DVD drive? It's one thing to not have a disc burner, but the absence of even a read-only drive makes it annoyingly difficult to install new software (unless you buy downloadable versions on the Internet) or watch movies (unless you stream them from an online service like Netflix or rip them from disc and stream them from a server). Asus EAH4870 Dark Night Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 4:59 AM (EDT)

"What is a knight? Traditionally, a knight is an esteemed and entitled member of the warrior class in a society. In other words, they are the best soldiers. They've been trained to take on challenging foes and crush them to bits. ASUS's "Dark Knight" was able to put up a very strong fight in most of the benchmarks it went through. However, it was not able to outperform every card thrown at it. This, of course, is 100% understandable because the 4870 is nothing new. In fact, the EAH4870 performed extremely well for its class. In most benchmarks, it was able to compete with the GTX 260 and Sapphire's 4870, which was equipped with 2GB of GDDR5 memory as opposed to only 1GB. In some cases, with an overclock, the "Dark Knight was able to outperform ATI's new 4890."

When we got the new Toshiba with the Core 2 Duo T5800 2 GHz CPU and 4 GB of ram with a copy of Vista 64 we thought it was running a little slow for the specifications.

Cresyn CS-HP500 Headphones Review @ OCIA.net

Posted by Nathan @ 7:21 PM (EDT)

"The headphones in question today are the CS-HP500 model which feature a folding design for portability. I will be saving the earphones for a separate review in the near future. I initially assumed the CS-HP500s were a new product, but after some research online I found information on them dating back to 2007. Either way, they are new to me (and most likely many of you as well) so let's see what these headphones have to offer."

Saitek Cyborg @ PureOverclock

Posted by Nathan @ 7:20 PM (EDT)

"Today we take a look at a new rodent that promises innovation, functionality, and an affordable price to boot: the Saitek Cyborg gaming mouse. The Cyborg certainly looks different, and it does have some very unique features, but how does it work and feel when chasing down the little noobies in a busy CS:S or CoD:WaW server? Let's take a closer look and find out."

HP EliteBook 6930p @ InsideHW

Posted by Nathan @ 7:18 PM (EDT)

“EliteBook is relatively new series of HP notebooks and it is intended for demanding business users. It was created with goal of creating better distinction between business and top-class notebooks that can withstand much tougher working conditions. Model that we got in our test lab is HP EliteBook 6930p and after first contact with this model it was clear that we got an “elite” notebook. Although HP EliteBook 6930p is relatively small, which is consequence of display with 14.1 inch diagonal, it is much heavier than we expected. This shouldn’t surprise you too much since emphasis on all EliteBook models is on build quality…”

Sony Sound Bar HT-CT100 Home Theater System Reviewed @ TestFreak

Posted by Nathan @ 7:17 PM (EDT)

"Sound bars have been around for a few years now, but seem to have become more popular in the last year or so, it’s a great option for people like me who want better sound without a lot of components and hassles. I opted for the Sony Sound Bar HT-CT100, it’s small, and after reading many glowing reviews of it I did a bit of pricing research and bought it. It retails for an average price of $299 most places, which isn’t too bad, but I found it for $260 locally. The HT-CT100 allows me to hook up three HMDI devices, along with a Coax connections and an audio input from my TV, for me this system is perfect. It’s small overall, so it fits perfectly in the limited space I have, but yet yields a much needed improvement in the audio of my HDTV. "

Arm3D Review: OCZ Behemoth Gaming Laser Mouse

Posted by Nathan @ 7:17 PM (EDT)

One this I must mention is the brilliance of the ergonomics team who designed this mouse. You have to just place your hand on the mouse, and all of your fingers just seem to find their own little home on this mouse. It truly is brilliant. I dare to say, one of the most comfortable mice I’ve used for a long time.

Cooler Master Sileo 500 @ InsideHW

Posted by Nathan @ 11:33 PM (EDT)

“Last few months Cooler Master acted aggressively on the PC chassis market. There are a lot of evidences, in form of new chassis models for various user target groups, to prove this claim. For example, HAF 932 has attracted a lot of attention as first representative of new HAF (High Air-Flow) series. After that we saw Storm Sniper that was intended for gamers and now we have Sileo 500 – new model in mid tower product group. Sileo 500 was designed as chassis with traditional values in mind. Another goal during design of Sileo 500 was to reduce noise levels of all components that are inside the chassis. But let’s start from the beginning: exterior…”

Mac Bloggers Bashing 'Laptop Hunter' Commercials @ OCModShop

Posted by Nathan @ 11:32 PM (EDT)

I've seen a few technology bloggers immediately start bashing the Microsoft "Laptop Hunter / it's a PC " commercial. They say that it's like comparing apples or orange (pun intended). In the commercial, the "actor" goes into an Apple store, and cannot find a computer with the features they want near their budget ($1000 or less).

Corsair TX850W Power Supply Review @ Overclockers Online

Posted by Nathan @ 11:31 PM (EDT)

When it comes to the absolute best when balancing price and performance, a few units come to mind, among them Corsair's TX750W was definitely among those at the front of the pack. Today we add Corsair's TX850W to that list. The 850W priced in the lower $100 dollar range and only slightly more expensive than the TX750W falls in a sweet spot. For those needing just a little bit more power than the TX750W offers, but not a full 1000W, the TX850W answers the call. Even those who don't necessarily need 850W of power should consider the TX850W. There are only a small number of units which match Corsair's TX line offerings in terms of performance and especially at its asking price point.
