HT OMEGA CLARO 7.1 Channel 24-bit 192KHz PCI Sound Card Review @ Benchmark Reviews |
Posted by Nathan @ 2:03 AM (EDT) |
HT Omega is among the first companies to offer authentic high-fidelity sound at a true 24-bit level of performance. The world class Oxygen 8788 based audio processor by C-Media supports most all industry standards for 3D computer sound; including EAX, A3D and DirectSound. Other very large companies abused consumer trust and have made claims to having this level of sound, only to wind up in court disputes or offer subsequent products that boast 24-bit processing but haplessly renders at 16-bit. Benchmark Reviews investigates the real deal: the HT OMEGA CLARO 24-bit 192KHz 8-channel high definition sound card. |

“The 8800GTX, after many months on the market, is still the best of the best. Sure, there's one card for competition: the 8800 Ultra; but that's sort of a joke; it's basically a stock-overclocked GTX, with a $150 premium. (The joke is really on the buyer.) ATI has given NVIDIA no reason to worry, since their HD 2000-series doesn't have a card like it. Without any competition to speak of, that leaves one question: which 8800GTX is best? That depends on the price, extra features and bundle.” |

Just from the name you can tell that the Max Orb falls back on the orb design that we are accustomed to seeing from Thermaltake. The Orb is what brought Thermaltake to the level at which it is now. Swiftech MCW6500-T TEC (Peltier) Assisted Water Block Review @ OCC |
Posted by Nathan @ 1:59 AM (EDT) |
"Most people think of Dangerden or Thermaltake when venturing into water-cooling, so it is interesting to see what new products Swiftech has to offer to bring itself further into the limelight. In this review, I will be taking a look at the TEC-assisted water-block, the MCW6500-T and comparing it to plain water-cooling. TEC-cooling is what I would consider to be the cheapest form of sub-ambient cooling and one step above the most efficient "regular" cooling method of using water. This product is a complete water-block, TEC, and coldplate all in-one and designed with TEC cooling in mind. So I will be comparing the MCW6500-T to one of the highest performing water-blocks ever made, the Swiftech Storm G4. Is it worth the effort? Does it increase stability and allow higher overclocks? Let's find out!" |

When it comes to memory shopping for your computer, flashes of flair complement the quality of the memory rather than make up for its deficiencies. Never ever buy RAM by the way it looks - you're fooling yourself if you do. Good memory is all about the specs, clock speeds and CAS latency timings. Warranty and service/support come second.... and if it just happens to look cool than all the better. However, the appearance of memory modules for a performance tuned computer are totally un-important. |

While these PSUs always were above average in terms of performance, quality and pricing, they were not powerful enough to please the most hardcore gamers and enthusiasts who always demand, nay require excessive, perhaps even unnecessary amounts of power. For NorthQ to appeal in this market, they decided to add another PSU in their products line-up; the Giant Reactor. The Giant Reactor can output exactly 1KW (1000W), enough power to feed a ludicrous number of components. It was at this year's Consumer Electronics Show that we were first exposed to an Intel demo machine dubbed the ' V8' . Intel wouldn't label the machine as a direct response to the QuadFX platform by AMD, but they did want to stress the point that enthusiasts could have a dual-socket, eight-core, Intel powered machine today if they went with a workstation platform. At the heart of the V8 machine were two quad-core Xeon processors, a dual-socket S5000XVN motherboard, and 4GB of RAM. No doubt a powerful system. But there was only so much Intel could convey in a 'quick and dirty' demo. To assess the true power and capabilities of V8, we'd have to gain unfettered access to the machine and put it through its paces on our own terms and with our own suite of benchmarks. And that's exactly what we've done. Head on over to the site and check it out… |

There are several different programs that can be added to the disk to help backup, recover, image the PC, and troubleshoot many problems. Examples of the many programs that can be installed include Lavasoft Adaware SE, SpyBot Search and Destroy, HijackThis, CWShredder, AV7 Personal, McAfee Stinger, RootKitty, Handy Recovery, Free Undelete, DBXtract, DriveImage XML, Symantec Ghost, and many many others. Once you have added the files needed in the builder, pop the CD or DVD into the drive and boot from the CD/DVD ROM. It will start with a bootup screen for Bart's PE and then will go to a 'Windows is Loading' screen. It is actually loading off the CD instead of the hard drive. The operating system loads into RAM so that it does not physically use the hard drive. Once the PE disk has booted you can browse the internet, update programs, make an image of the PC with Ghost, run file management tools, use remote desktop, and there is even an option to use VMware while in PE. USB support is also standard now with the latest version of PE Builder. Most people use Bart's PE to retrieve files off of a hard drive that will not boot, use Ghost to reimage the hard drive, run an integrity check on the disk or run some defragment tools. Defragmenting from within Bart's PE is a better option because none of the files on the hard drive are actually being accessed by Windows at that time. Sometimes Windows will not allow a file to be moved while it is in use. That is not a problem if you are using the Bart's PE disk. |

The ProXStream on the other hand was everything the GameXStream should have been though much louder. Priced at $269.99 after MIR in e-tail the ProXStream 1000w is certainly on the less expensive end of 1000w power supplies, meets its advertised specifications, and is well built making it a good value if users can live the noise the unit makes." |

In the beginning there was Indiana Jones… but no matter how cool Indy was, he was soon forgotten once Lara Croft first appeared in Tomb Raider.
