SAMSUNG PN58B850 58 INCH PLASMA TV REVIEW

(02-08-2010)

No longer will you have to worry about ghosting artifacts and you can watch any action movie or sports game and feel like you are really there. Although LCD models may try to mimic the fluid playback a plasma TV brings to the table, they can't hold a candle to plasma technology even today.

MICROSOFT EXPLORER WIRELESS RECHARGEABLE MOUSE REVIEW

(02-06-2010)

After using Microsoft's new Explorer mouse for over a week, I'm very impressed by both the functionality of the BlueTrack Technology and the overall design and feel of the mouse. Careful shopping can get you one of these units for around $40 or so, and while cheaper mice are available, I would consider this an excellent value and would have no reservations in recommending this product.

Ultra X4 1600 Watt Full Modular Power Supply Review @ Tweaktown

Posted by Nathan @ 4:59 AM (EST)

Power supplies are important and often overlooked components. Ultra Products understands that case-proud PC enthusiasts do not overlook the PSU. In fact, hard-core hardware geeks demand not just performance, but style to complement not just their ass kicking hardware, but their beautifully lit cases. Thus, Ultra has released the new X4 Series in a range of wattages starting at 500 watts. The model we are taking to task in this review is the totally modular 1600-watt version.

This block of power weighs a respectable 15 pounds, measures 240mm x 150mm X 87mm and features a 135mm fan. And, it is 80 Plus Certified. One note about the 1600-watt rating; this PSU is rated at 1600 watts when connected to a 20-amp plug using the special 120 volt 20 AMP cable (included). When you use the included 120 volt 15 AMP cord to connect to a typical outlet, the PSU operates at 1200 watts.

Intel Core i5 661 Dual Core LGA 1156 Processor Review @ ThinkComputers.org

Posted by Nathan @ 4:59 AM (EST)

For 2010, Intel has introduced a new line of processors code named “Clarkdale”, and will be known as the Core i5 600 series. At this point there are four processors in this series, the 650, the 660, the 670, and the 661. Today I will be looking at the Intel Core i5 661, a dual core LGA 1156 processor built in the 32nm process, with on-die video processing. This should make it a natural for HTPC and non-gaming rigs. How will the i5 661 fare with this geek who has had the honor of reviewing some of the most powerful video cards in the world? Read on to see!

EVGA Geforce GTX275 CO-OP Video Card @ Benchmark Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 4:58 AM (EST)

NVIDIA and ATI dominate the market for gaming-oriented video cards. But neither company sells video cards directly to the consumer; rather, they produce "reference designs" that are manufactured by a number of "partners". Most partners simply produce the reference design and slap an identifying sticker on the card's cooler; although some might replace the reference design cooler with a quieter or more powerful solution, with few exceptions there's little to distinguish one partner's version of a specific card from another partner's version of the same card. EVGA breaks out of this rut with their EVGA GTX 275 CO-OP PhysX Edition, model 012-P3-1178-TR, which combines NVIDIA GTS250 and GTX275 GPUs on the same card, and Benchmark Reviews takes it around the block to see what it's got.

ASUS ENGT240 Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 4:58 AM (EST)

The cooling solution that was on the ASUS ENGT240 did its job quite well - the highest that I saw the card get was 64°C during all the testing, which is not very high for a video card operating at 630MHz on the GPU and running through all these benchmarks back-to-back. I do like the fact that the ENGT240 does get all the power that it needs from the motherboard's PCI-E slot - there are no extra power adapters that need to be plugged into the video card.

BioShock 2 Developer Q&A @ OCModShop

It's that Bioshock 1 was so well received (laughs). Had to build a team from scratch. Building out the team was mentally challenging, and going up against our own expectiations. It is odd and humbled to be working on a game that everyone is enthusiastic about.

Many people out there simply do not have $200 laying around to go out and buy a new graphics card. You may be someone who fits into this category, and are looking for some performance and features while still retaining the lower price point. Silverstone DS221 Dual HDD Raid Enclosure @ Pro-Clockers

Posted by Nathan @ 3:23 PM (EST)

So my most reasonable option would be to build my on drive enclosure. This way I can pick whatever enclosure style I like. And I can load the enclosure with any drive I want. Yeah....I like this option better. Silverstone has a new enclosure that will help me accomplish my goal. The new DS221 dual 2.5" drive enclosure is a stylish unit that can house two laptop size drives that can be insert without having to tear apart the box. And if that doesn't get you excitement level up how does it support for RAID 0, 1 and even JBOD.

ThermalTake 750W TR2 RX PSU Review @ OCModShop

Posted by Nathan @ 3:22 PM (EST)

Thermaltake has tossed us another bone with the TR2 RX 750-Watt power supply. It looks great, its 750 watts strong, and today Ill find out how reliable it is. Thermaltake doesnt disappoint very often, and I have high hopes for this particular piece of hardware. Im going to be testing it on my usual testing rig, a 2.9Ghz Athlon 64 X2 dual core with 2GB of 800Mhz RAM. I also have six 120mm case fans all running at once, two DVD-RW drives, two SATA HDDs, and an ATI 4870 video card. Normally, this setup would warrant at least a 500W power supply, so the TR2 should have no trouble keeping up.

MSI Radeon HD 5770 HAWK 1GB Video Card @ Tweaktown

Posted by Nathan @ 3:21 PM (EST)

If you're gaming at 1920 x 1200, the HD 5770 is the card I would recommend in a heartbeat, especially if you want to protect yourself a little bit for future titles. It offers us consistent performance at 1920 x 1200 with the detail level set high.

As always, though, we appreciate some extra performance. Last year we saw MSI attach the GT 240 from NVIDIA with its Afterburner software. Outside of just giving us normal abilities like overclocking the core and memory, it also gave us a chance to increase the voltage on the core. What this ultimately meant was that we could achieve an ever higher core clock.

Sapphire ATI Radeon 5450 HD 512MB Video Card Review @ GeekInvaders.com

The ATI 5450 HD is the newest card released from Sapphire and was put through the tests from hell! Now like we said before this isn’t a gaming card and shouldn’t be bought for one. ATI Radeon 5450 Media PC Graphics Card Review @ OverclockersHQ

Posted by Nathan @ 3:18 PM (EST)

Media has found its way off of your TV set and into your office ever since Napster came along. The slow migration back to the living room has finally happened after many failed attempts at making a home theater PC that will make your wife happy, companies have finally figured it out. New HTPC products we are starting to see are quieter and lower profile than ever and we are starting to see some seriously impressive products geared not only toward media, but also all around use. ATI has found its place at the forefront of this HTPC movement by creating a line of graphics cards that not only cover everything I mentioned above, but also come with something everyone really wants to see, come on, you know what I mean, okay for the intellectually challenged of you out there I mean this new series is not going to break the bank. Let’s be honest money really can buy happiness if you don’t have to spend as much. Today we will be looking at the ATI 5450 Series Graphics Card that should only put you back about $50, let’s get a closer look:

Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 Video Card Review @ Motherboards.org

Posted by Nathan @ 3:18 PM (EST)

As a video card for the enthusiast gamer this does not fit the bill. On the other hand such a gamer will not likely spend $50 to buy a video card but there are other markets than the hardcore gamer. The Home Theater PC owner with a low-profile case this card is the perfect fit. It offers much higher performance than the latest integrated graphics technology from Intel or AMD, draws less power, has no active cooling and has the ability to run three monitors on a PCB that is the same size as the previous generation HD 4350 card which has the same specs in terms of Stream Processors.

Kingston MobileLite G2 USB Card Reader Review @ Legit Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 3:17 PM (EST)

The Kingston MobileLite G2 card reader makes for a nice travel companion for those using one of the variety of cards it supports. If you are compact flash card user, you are out of luck here but that's hardly surprising given the reader is near the same size as a compact flash card. I don't have any real complaints about the reader or the accompanying SDHC card. There was the minor issue with the amount of play with the retractable cover on the card end of the device but this was minimal and at no point was I concerned that it may break or become stuck. For reassurance, Kingston offers a 2-year warranty on the G2 reader and a lifetime warranty on the SDHC card...

PowerColor Radeon HD 5750 Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 3:16 PM (EST)

Performance at stock was right about where it should be, there weren't any surprises. The 1GB of memory helped out in some games at 2560x1600 while others the card was just too weak. Once the big overclock set in though, this card was a performer! It wasn't ground shattering, but it did help the 5750 catch up to the other cards and made it feel less like a low-midrange GPU.
